Tetiana Okopna

Tetiana Okopna was born in 1988 in a Ukrainian industrial small town Romny. She wanted to become a translator from French but at the end she took her degree in Czech studies and now she works as a translator and interpreter from Czech language, she also teaches Czech.

The first book she has translated was Václav Havel’s biography by Daniel Kaiser. Since then she has still been interested in Václav Havel’s works. She has also translated his essay The Power of the Powerless. She translates other contemporary Czech authors such as Jaroslav Rudiš, Jáchym Topol or Petr Šabach.

She was the translator-in-residence in May and June 2016, during her residency in Prague she was working on other translation of Havel’s essays and also of his plays.
