Liam Pieper

Liam Pieper is a Melbourne-based author and journalist. He was born in 1984 to a bohemian hippie family.

He started to smoke marihuana at the age of 13, at the age of 15 he became a dealer, three years later he was arrested. He used this experience in his first book, a memoir, The Feel-Good Hit of the Year, shortlisted for the National Biography Award and the Ned Kelly Best True Crime award. His second was Mistakes Were Made, a volume of humorous essays. He was the first resident of the residency programme of UNESCO City of Literature of Prague in October and November 2015; during the residency, he was working on his first novel The Toymaker (2016).
